We are using this with our homeschooling curricula this year. While the stories are well written and engaging so far, they are very much white washed. Not surprising for an older book, but I prefer a more moderate view of history. (Columbus is painted only as the brave and heroic figure who discovers America for example.) I am using it as a read aloud and editing a bit as I read, but I am not sure we will continue with this series for these reasons. At the least, I wish I would have pre-read this book sooner.Product details

Worth the buy!
I love this author.
Well written. My 8 yr old read it in one setting and begged for volume 2.
What a deal! These short stories are educational and interesting. They are just the right length to add a bit of American history to your child's day. Children will not soon tire of these or become bored. This series makes learning history more enjoyable for little ones. You cannot beat the price!
I would definitely recommend this book. I used it to read to children ages 2-6 at bedtime. Kept them interested and if they fell asleep I usually just kept reading; it's that good.
Amazing!!!!! My kids will learn a great deal about history through this outstanding writing. So very happy to add this to my library. I only wish I had it in hardback.
As a home school family, we love this series. It resembles reading a story book yet is cram-packed full of history. It is very easy reading. Who ever thought a History text book would be so hard to put down. My student begs to read more. It keeps your full attention, more in a way of entertainment. A enjoyable way to learn history.
